Make Your Own Envelope

The truth about me is I love corrugated paper.

I needed a special envelope last week; I wanted something similar to an art or architecture portfolio with a cool clasp. There were none to be found. However, there was a 2X3 sheet of corrugated paper at Dakota Art, one of my favorite little art supply stores. This looked promising…

I don’t know about you, but I tend to keep lots of cool miscellaneous “stuff” that I find…much to my family’s delight. I found a spool of elastic silver line and a washer for the closure (it stretches around the envelope), and hot glued (my favorite sewing technique) a strip of suede to define the edge . Next time I might use ribbon, twigs, buttons, or break down and sew something along the edge.
